Paying vendors in just the US & Canada wasn't going to cut it

Routable is a B2B payments platform that focuses on automating bill payments, payouts, and invoicing. My team, the Payments Method pod, was on a mission to enable Routable customers to pay their international vendors in over 220 countries and territories. I joined the team a few months after this project kicked off.

International Payments is a clear win-win

Most Routable customers needed the ability to pay vendors outside the US and Canada, and our competitors were already offering this service. International payments presented an absolutely massive opportunity to grow our total addressable market and increase revenue to the tune of $10-20 million in just a couple years.

Research Spanned Multiple Teams

When I joined the team, discovery interviews for international B2B payments had already been conducted. However, while on a different team, I used the discovery interview notes to identify participants for a survey to understand how to best sync international payment data with Routable's accounting software integrations. And by consulting a customer success teammate with prior accounting experience, I was able to ask the right questions in the right way. This survey gave us valuable input from clients and a clear direction for immediate and long-term accounting software integration updates.

Timeline

This was a huge initiative that touched just about every part of the product. I worked on 5 different yet interconnected epics, even while on different teams.

Care to dive deeper?

In the slide deck below, I give examples of the full scope of the project using OOUX methods. I also do a deeper dive of the CSV Upload update (highlighted above in the timeline), where you can get an idea of how I work, collaborate, and iterate.
